Funding Options for Speech Pathology Services
We understand that navigating funding can be confusing. This page outlines the main options available to help cover the cost of speech pathology, from NDIS plans to Medicare rebates.
If you're unsure of specifics for your family, contact our reception team on (03) 9499 8911 for assistance.
Medicare Rebates
Chronic Condition Management (CCM)
Medicare offers rebates for speech pathology services under the Chronic Condition Management (CCM) plan:
Available for children with complex care needs involving two or more health providers
Requires referral from a General Practitioner
Covers up to 5 sessions per calendar year
Rebate of $61.80 per session (subject to change) or higher rebates if your family has reached the Medicare safety net threshold
Your GP will determine eligibility and prepare a care plan.
Our fees are more than the rebate, so there will be an out-of-pocket cost.
Helping Children with Autism (HCWA)
Children with Autism may be referred by a Paediatrician for Speech Pathology assessment and/or treatment under Medicare. The maximum number of treatment sessions is 20. A Medicare rebate of $87.25 applies to these sessions.

Private Health Insurance
Speech pathology services may be claimable under private health insurance depending on your extras cover. Every fund has its own policies and rebate structures - we recommend contacting your provider directly to confirm what’s included.
We can submit claims on your behalf in the clinic on the day of service (using Tyro Health), or provide an itemised invoice after each session to help with claiming.

NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme)
We provide speech pathology services for:
Self-managed NDIS clients
Plan-managed NDIS clients
We are not currently able to support NDIA-managed clients, as this requires registration with the NDIS provider network.
Sessions are typically delivered in-clinic. Occasional visits to preschools or schools may be arranged depending on needs, but regular home or school-based sessions are not offered.
Please note:
Early morning and after-school appointments are in high demand
Waitlists apply for these times and may vary throughout the year
