Funding Options for Speech Pathology Services

Medicare Rebates

Chronic Condition Management (CCM)

Medicare offers rebates for speech pathology services under the Chronic Condition Management (CCM) plan:

• Available for children with complex care needs involving two or more health providers

• Requires referral from a General Practitioner

• Covers up to 5 sessions per calendar year

• Rebate of $61.80 per session (subject to change) or higher rebates if your family has reached the Medicare safety net threshold

Your GP will determine eligibility and prepare a care plan.

Our fees are more than the rebate, so there will be an out-of-pocket cost.

Helping Children with Autism (HCWA)

Children with Autism may be referred by a Paediatrician for Speech Pathology assessment and/or treatment under Medicare. The maximum number of treatment sessions is 20. A Medicare rebate of $87.25 applies to these sessions.

Private Health Insurance

Speech pathology services may be claimable under private health insurance depending on your extras cover. Every fund has its own policies and rebate structures - we recommend contacting your provider directly to confirm what’s included.

We can submit claims on your behalf in the clinic on the day of service (using Tyro Health), or provide an itemised invoice after each session to help with claiming.
